Attention

There has been a need identified in the community for veterans. We all know that Livingston County Veteran Services provides rides for veterans. However, veterans need a ride and someone to stay with them during the procedures. I have now started a list for a veteran ride share. If you would like to be on the list for standby, please let me know. This doesn’t mean you have to do it, but it gives a list to go down and ask for help. If you have a need for a driver please reach out asap for planning and coordination. This will be a great resource for all of our members.

Is PGCSS Right for You?

If you are a caregiver of a Veteran enrolled in VA health care who is interested in connecting with other caregivers, receiving additional support from a professional care team, or looking to enhance your skills as a caregiver, PGCSS may be right for you.

Am I a General Caregiver?

A General Caregiver is a person who provides personal care services to a Veteran enrolled in VA health care who needs assistance with one or more activities of daily living or supervision or protection due to symptoms or residuals of neurological care, other impairment, or injury.

Steps for Enrollment –

Every Veterans Affairs Facility is staffed with a CSP Team/Caregiver Support Coordinator. This team can help you determine the resources and services available to you and assist you with enrolling in CSP programs.

There is no formal application required to enroll in the Program of General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS). To enroll, complete the following steps:

  1. Reach out to the facility CSP Team/Caregiver Support Coordinator or request a referral from the Veteran’s provider.
  2. Complete an intake with the facility CSP Team/Caregiver Support Coordinator. The Veteran will need to agree to receive care from you as their caregiver, as you will be listed in their healthcare record.
  3. Enroll and begin to utilize the supports and services offered.

Veterans Crisis Line

Dial 988 and press 1 to contact the Veterans Crisis Line. Veterans may still reach the Veterans Crisis Line with the previous phone number—1-800-273-8255 and Press 1—by text (838255), and through chat (VeteransCrisisLine.net/Chat).

Military Sexual Trauma Counseling

What is military sexual trauma counseling?

Military sexual trauma counseling may include individual or group counseling, marital and family counseling, referral for benefits assistance, liaison with community agencies, or substance abuse information and referral to help you deal with the emotions of military sexual trauma and regain confidence in your everyday life.

Am I eligible for military sexual trauma counseling at Vet Centers? Any Veteran or Service member, including members of the National Guard and Reserve forces, who was sexually traumatized while serving in the military, is eligible to receive counseling regardless of gender or era of service.

Where are services available?

Assessment and referral for MST-related counseling is available at all Vet Centers. On-site counseling is available at selected Vet Centers across the country. In addition, MST-related medical and mental health services are available at your local VA Medical Center and can be accessed by contacting the Military Sexual Trauma Coordinator or your existing VA healthcare provider.
