The July General Membership Meeting for Devereaux Post 141 was called to order by Cmdr. David Harvey on July 20, 2026, at 1935 hrs., with the presentation of the colors.
Chap. Drew Etten provided prayer, MIA/POW Remembrance.
Cmdr. Harvey led the Pledge of Allegiance and recital of the American Legion Preamble.

Approval of the Minutes from the Last Membership Meeting
Approval of the minutes from June 15, 2026, General Membership Meeting have been distributed electronically.
- Gary Dunn moved to accept the minutes as distributed, and Don Lang seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Introduction of Guests and New Members
- Jim & Cindy Donovan were introduced.
- Chair of the Americanism Committee Don Lang, please introduce your guests. (Boys State Graduates). Max Ketteret.
- Max discussed his experience at Boys State. The first two days were busy. Max oversaw Police.
- Food was pretty good.
- Max gained a lot of knowledge about the government.
- Had a great time & thanks the Legion for their support
- Cameron Park thought the Boys State would be like another summer camp, but found it to be a great learning experience.
- Cameron’s city councilors both attended Boys Nation.
- Cameron became chair of the Transportation Committee for the House of Representatives. His bill made it to the Senate.
- Don found a young man who wanted to go to Boy’s State so badly that he paid his own way. Don had some money, so he was able to cover the cost.
- Don presented Matt and Cameron with certificates from Rep. Jason Woolford.
- Commander Harvey presented both with Post Commander’s Coins.
- Logan from Texas Roadhouse is sponsoring a “Tip the Hero” evening. 100% of all tips go to Torch Bearers. Gary Dunn asked for some of the Legion to join. July 29, 2026.

- 2027 Gala planning is underway.

- Waiting on bids for the bathrooms.

- Past Commanders did all vets picnic this past Saturday. Picnic was well attended. Thanks to the Epleys for the use of their property.
Americanism Committee

- We support three girls for Girls State. We should be hearing from them next month.
Color Guard

- No receipts for the uniforms and still looking for volunteers.
- Aug. 7th: Great Lakes National Cemetery is asking for support from Legion Honor Guard.
Communications Committee

- The new site is up and running.

- Working on a special project with another group in the area.

Post Historian

- The Vietnam War display case is smaller than the other display cases in the club. A quote was received for a new case with underneath storage.
Post Service Officer
Terran Frye
- Worked with a veteran for $500.00 last month.
- Working on getting a veteran set up
- Vet Feat Aug. 8th at Cleary University this year. Free tickets are available online.
- Resource Fair at LCVS this month. Terran is working on several open cases from the event.
Legion Riders
Bill Goldthwait
- Poker Run on 10/15
- Donated to a vet in need.
- Members participated in the Honor Walk on 07/16 at Providence Hospital in Novi.
- Current membership is 115 members.
Sick Call
- Terri Ramos’ nephew Christopher Bare has severe cancer with only 6 months left. Please pray for him.

Good of the American Legion
- Plans underway for the 2027 Marine Corps Ball. Online purchases will show HVA on the receipt.
- Toys for Tots are moving. Trying to get all toys to a small unit 07/21 at 1000 hrs.
- VFW Post 6464: Steve fed over 200 people at breakfast on 07/19.
- Livingston County Veterans Council: Dave LCVS will be honoring Jon Luker tomorrow night.
- Marine Corps League: Ron Brooke reported business as usual. Paper tickets are available for those who do not want to use online ticketing.
- Richie announced that the 22-a-Day is selling t-shirts as a fundraiser.
Commander’s Remarks
- First, I want to thank all of you for your support as I continue to settle in as your commander. I have reminded each organization that we are one family. No one member, board, or group is larger than our Legion and our Mission.
- We need to get our 733 members involved in the Post. Make a new person feel welcome and get involved on a committee.
- Update on The State Convention: Post 141 was presented two awards—Web Site of the Year and a certificate for 100% On Time Membership.
